Prayer: Comforting and Reassuring
How is your prayer life? If it is anything like mine, it is a little sporadic. It is mostly good when I am not traveling but I am often distracted when I am traveling. Yet, it is always comforting and reassuring. I know God is always listening.
Praying requires faith in God. Faith that believes He hears us and answers us. I have learned He always answers prayer but not always the way I want. He has said “yes”, “no”, and “wait”. The no and the wait are the hardest for me to accept. That is where my faith in God comes in. I need to believe He is answering according to His good will for me and usually without telling me why. Now, if I knew why, it would not really be in faith.
There are many reasons why He answers the way He does. How He answers, I believe is always what is best for me at that time. I may not like it, but I do want what is best for me. I may be praying with wrong motives. These may be prayers spent on my passions. (James 4:3) I may also be asking for something I am not really ready to receive even if I think I am ready. Or it may be something that is not good for me in the long run.
It is comforting to know that I can reach out to the Creator God of the Universe and know that he will always answer me in His due time. It is also reassuring to know that the all powerful God is answering according to what is best for me.
Dear Father, Give us the patience we need to wait for Your promises and spiritual maturity to know unequivocally that You know best. Amen
